Good uses for a temporary address
A receive-only temporary inbox can separate a low-risk signup, a download or your own application test from your primary inbox. Check that the service permits disposable addresses. TempMy receives messages; it is not an email-sending service.
Use permanent email for important accounts
Use an address you control long term for banking, payments, work, healthcare, government services, legal matters and account recovery. If losing access to an email address would lock you out of something important, a temporary inbox is the wrong destination.
Treat links and attachments carefully
A message appearing in your inbox does not make its sender trustworthy. Check the destination before opening a link. Do not enter credentials on a page just because an email asks you to. Avoid unexpected attachments and requests for payment or identity documents.
Keep access details private
Do not share inbox access links, browser storage, verification codes or reset links. Do not paste message contents into public forums. A temporary address does not make the rest of your online activity anonymous.
Understand deletion and expiry
Temporary inboxes and messages can expire or be deleted. Read the retention information shown in the product. Do not rely on a temporary inbox as an archive, backup or future recovery method.
Useful to know
TempMy helps separate incoming email from your primary inbox. It is not an anonymity tool and should not be used for sensitive communications.
